Volcanic Ravines & Canyons
Red-rock gorges and ancient volcanic formations in the island's rugged interior.
Golden dunes, volcanic peaks, year-round sunshine — your ultimate island adventure starts here.
Hi, I'm Dan. I've lived in Gran Canaria since 2007 and I still discover something new every week. When I first arrived, the high-rise hotels of Playa del Inglés weren't exactly what I'd imagined — but it didn't take long to realise that the resort strip is just a tiny fraction of what this island offers. Look past it and you'll find volcanic mountains, hidden beaches, world-class diving, and trails that could be straight out of a documentary.
The weather is sunshine about 350 days a year, which means everything happens outdoors — hiking, snorkelling, cycling, surfing, you name it. And if you plan smart, it's incredible value.
This is my personal guide — no sponsored posts, no hotel lobby advice. Just honest tips from someone who actually lives here.

"We took our three kids (ages 4, 7, and 10) and every single one of them had the time of their lives. The beaches are amazing, and Aqualand was the highlight of the trip!"
"The hiking is world-class. Roque Nublo at sunrise was genuinely one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Gran Canaria is so much more than a beach holiday."
"The mix of culture, food, and nature is unbeatable. Vegueta old town was stunning, the tapas were incredible, and we loved the camel rides at Maspalomas."
